He was assigned to Company "U" Marine Barracks, Paris Island, South Carolina.. In December 1918 he completed his basic training and was granted a furlough December 20-28, 1918. In January 1919 returned to Paris Island from Furlough In February 1919 he was assigned to Philadelphia, PA. May 1919 he was assigned Company "C" Military Police Detachment. MB NYD. Apr 1919 RANK: Private Station: Co ''C'' Separate Detachment Military Police, Mb, Nyd, Phila,Pa Apr 20-30,1919 on detachment MB, Quantico, VA for participation in Eastern Division Rifle Competition May 1-9, 1919 on detachment MB, Quantico, VA for participation in Eastern Division Rifle Competition.
